Football icon Sir Alex Ferguson will return to Aberdeen this autumn to discuss his secrets of success.
The former Aberdeen FC manager will take the stage at The Music Hall on Thursday, October 1, as part of a national tour to promote his new book, Leading.
Sir Alex will be interviewed on stage about his successful career in top-flight football and his management techniques. Knighted in the 1999 Queen’s Birthday Honours, he is famed as the manager behind Aberdeen’s greatest footballing triumph and was awarded the Freedom of the City in 1999.
The Dons won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1983 with a 2–1 victory over Real Madrid, and to this day it is considered the team’s greatest triumph.
Aberdeen was only the third Scottish team to win a European trophy and it was followed up with victory in the European Super Cup in December 1983, when the reigning European Cup champions, Hamburg, were beaten 2–0 over two legs.
Tickets to Sir Alex’s October event go on sale to APA friends on Monday, July 27, and to the general public on Tuesday, July 28. Tel: 01224 641122 or visit www.aberdeenperformingarts.com
