After graduating from Glasgow School of Art, Merril MacWilliam moved to Inverness with her husband George. She considers the city her home and has worked there as an illustrator, artist, tutor of community art classes and part-time college lecturer. In this book she beautifully
captures though a series of 40 black and white pen, ink and pencil
drawings, many landmark buildings both within and outwith the city.
Cawdor Castle, the fishing hamlet of Alturlie, Inverness Castle and
the 18th Century Clock Tower near the city’s harbour are all included
as are more iconic landmarks such as the brand new University of the
Highlands and Islands. An excellent history relating to each drawing,
written by Merrill’s brother-in-law and well known author, Rab
MacWilliam, accompanies each illustration.
