Colouring in has always been a popular pastime with children, and it was often with reluctance that as they grew older, pens and pencils were swapped for more grown-up pastimes.
But that’s all changed.
Colouring-books for adults, featuring more complex and intricate drawings, are all the rage. These are, quite simply, a great way of introducing a hobby that’s totally absorbing yet is easy to introduce to your life as you can pretty much do it anywhere you can find a flat surface.
Scottish artist and teacher, Yvette Walk’s crafty book is not just therapeutic but educational as the pages are filled with drawings relating to Scottish art, architecture, design and culture. Readers can colour their own Paisley print, create their own tartan and draw in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
It should, however, come with a warning as once you pick it up, you’ll find it very hard to put down.
