Hardback by Black & White Publishing, £9.99
Anyone who has ever owned a pet dog will tell you, dogs love snow. Even wee short-legged varieties seem to get a kick out of the white stuff. There’s real pleasure to be had watching them as they see it, especially for the first time, and wonder what it is, before discovering just how much fun it can be.
This book has more than 100 pages of beautiful photographs of a huge number of different breeds all having fun, ranging from Malamutes and Huskies who you’d expect to enjoy snowy conditions to some you’d think would like it less, such as Pugs and wee Yorkshire Terriers.
They are fun too – the pic of a Beagle trying to pinch a snowman’s carrot nose will make you smile, as will the pic of a British Bulldog and Central Asian Shepherd Dog enjoying a bit of rough and tumble because you’d swear blind the Bulldog is smiling directly at the camera.
There’s also pics that will melt the coldest of hearts such as a Jack Russell showing off as he barks at the snow, and a Siberian Husky puppy, who clearly feels at home in the snow, but who you’d want to take home and cuddle.
A lovely book for children but also a nice book to place on coffee tables and flick through during the winter months.
