Aberdeen will be filled with the sound of reggae when legends, UB40 visit Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s GE Oil & Gas Arena next year.

Featuring UB40’s five founding members Robin Campbell, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer and Norman Hassan, and long-time members Duncan Campbell, Martin Meredith, Lawrence Parry and Tony Mullings, the ‘Cities and Towns Tour’ will kick off at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on Tuesday, December 5.

They will perform in the Granite City on December 8.

The legendary band have released hit after hit since forming in 1978 and have achieved 17 top 10’s and three UK number ones including ‘Red, Red Wine’.

The four-time Grammy nominated band are one of the world’s best-selling music artists having racked up over 70 million record sales during their career spanning almost four decades.

2016 saw the band return to the UK when they performed songs from the first two ‘Labour of Love’ albums on an arena tour that included sell-out shows in London, Brighton and Birmingham.

Robin Campbell said: “UB40 are very excited to be returning to some of the biggest venues in the UK during our ‘Cites and Towns’ tour in December 2017. We are also particularly pleased to be playing such a fantastic venue for our hometown gig in Birmingham.”

Senior sales manager at AECC, Anna Mackenzie said: “This will be the first visit to the arena for UB40 so their fans in the north-east will be in for a great night reliving all of their iconic sounds. The concert would be a great excuse for a Christmas night out.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, December 16 from www.ticketmaster.co.uk/AECC or 08444 77 9000.
