Picturesque Haddo House at Tarves, Aberdeenshire, is the setting this weekend for a superb fiddlers rally featuring the ever popular Ythan Fiddlers.
This year, the group celebrates its 30th anniversary and they have put together a special programme featuring a variety of tunes, with some sets influenced by their successful Canadian trip in 2014, while it also includes a tribute to Jackie Stuart, a fiddler and composer from Ellon.
More than 70 fiddlers, from all over Scotland, will take to the stage, where they will be conducted by Gordon Hay. Guest artist for the concert is Graham Mackenzie, from Inverness, who began playing the violin at the age of six and has been twice a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year. He’ll be joined by his mum, Alison.
Compere for the evening is well-known singer, country dancer and broadcaster William Williamson. The concert takes place at 7.30pm this Saturday, May 9. For tickets contact 01651 851721 or visit www.ythanfiddlers.net
