The stunning countryside and iconic landmarks of Aberdeenshire will be broadcasted to the world tonight as the area is going to be featured on BBC’s Countryfile.
Ahead of tonight’s broadcast of the show, we’ve compiled together everything you need to know so you don’t miss it – and what you can look forward to.
What is Countryfile?
This long-running BBC show celebrates the people and the stories at the heart of British countryside. It first broadcasted in 1988 and is presented by Helen Skelton, Joe Crowley and Sean Fletcher, among others.
How many people watch it?
Each Sunday episode draws in an average crowd of around 8.6million – which is great news for Aberdeenshire.
When is the Aberdeenshire episode on?
Turn to BBC One tonight at 6.20pm to catch the hour-long episode.
What areas of the north-east will we see?
According to the episode synopsis, Helen, Joe and Sean will explore the varied landscapes of Aberdeenshire.
“From the solitude of the rugged north coast to the deep dark forests where wildcats dwell, it’s a surprising county,” it goes on to say.
“Helen discovers the only village on mainland Britain where cars can’t go. She also visits an open-air aquarium where they hand feed the fish, and she makes lino prints with an artist who takes inspiration from this remote coastline.
“Joe looks at a project mapping the diminishing wildcat population and sees the extraordinary lengths volunteers go to, to help preserve them.
“Sean visits a turkey farm where the guard dogs are alpacas, and Adam catches up with One Man and His Dog winner Dick Roper to pick up some expert tips on sheepdog handling.”
So we are expecting to see Macduff Marine Aquarium, the village of Crovie, and the forests of Clashindarroch and Glen Doll.
You’ll have to tune in tonight to find out for sure though.
