An oil painting of the River Deveron could sell for more than £4,000 when it goes under the hammer next month.
The Meeting of the Waters at Deveron, Rothiemay, is by acclaimed English artist Samuel John Lamorna Birch.
It has been valued at between £4,000-6,000 and will be sold at Woolley & Wallis Salerooms in Salisbury next month.
The painting was an unusual subject for Lamorna Birch, who normally focused on landscapes around his home near Lamorna Cove, Cornwall.
Woolley & Wallis paintings specialist Victor Fauvelle said: “Lamorna Birch’s preferred subject was Cornish views, particularly Lamorna, where he lived from 1902 for the rest of his life, however he was also a keen fisherman and visited many of the most beautiful rivers in in the United Kingdom to fish and paint.”
The landscape scene is up for sale alongside work by more than 30 influential Scottish artists, and will go under the hammer on Tuesday.
