Three new shows are expected to bring the silver screen to Aberdeen this year.
Aberdeen Performing Arts has announced that stage adaptations of The Girl on the Train, Saturday Night Fever and The Bodyguard will all play at His Majesty’s Theatre in the coming months.
The Girl on the Train
September 3 – 7
Rachel Watson longs for a different life. Her only escape is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day, happy and in love. Or so it appears.
When she learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as a witness – and even a suspect – in this thrilling mystery.
Adapted from Paula Hawkins’ novel, this gripping play will keep you guessing until the final moment.
Saturday Night Fever
October 8 – 12
This new stage version of the John Travolta classic marks 40 years since its famous UK cinema release.
It tells the story of Tony Manero, who escapes the realities of working-class Brooklyn life when he embarks on a reckless road to dancing success.
The movie soundtrack remains one of the bestselling of all time, featuring the Bee Gees greatest hits including Stayin’ Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever and Tragedy, as well as 70’s favourites Boogie Shoes and Disco Inferno.
The Bodyguard
November 5 – 9
The smash-hit West End musical follows Frank Farmer, an agent turned bodyguard, hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.
The pair end up falling in love, set against a backdrop of classics including I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.
Tickets for The Bodyguard, Girl on the Train and Saturday Night Fever go on sale to APA Friends tomorrow, and on general sale on Tuesday February 12.
Tickets are available from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, phone (01224) 641122 or in person at the box office at His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall or the Lemon Tree.
