Works to rejuvenate some of Aberdeen’s most important civic buildings are progressing on schedule, new documents have revealed.
Council bosses have said they are “highly confident” projects such as the £30 million transformation of the art gallery and £3.8 million overhaul of Provost Skene’s House will hit their opening dates.
The 16th century A-listed Provost Skene’s House will be turned into an interactive “hall of heroes” attraction showcasing the city’s most famous and honoured sons and daughters.
According to council papers, a variety of internal structural works have taken place since scaffolding was erected on August 8.
Work to treat rot has also been undertaken.
At the art gallery, which was originally supposed to have been completed in 2017, new gallery space, a renovated war memorial section and a copper-clad roof to enable the exhibition of more works have been added.
A report to councillors says that there is a “high level of confidence” that the fit-out of the gallery will be completed ahead of the scheduled November 2 opening date.
