Aberdeen Performing Arts is preparing to mark the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven with a showcase of today’s talented musicians.
Beethoven is widely acknowledged as one of the most admired an impactful composers to have ever lived, and his work includes a diverse collection of music.
To mark his 250th year, Aberdeen Performing Arts is offering pianists the chance to contribute to a project involving renowned musicians from around the world.
Beethoven 250: Cyber Sonatas will feature pianists from across the world playing at home, with their submissions collated and shared on YouTube.
Ben Torrie, APA’s director of programming and creative projects, has already recorded his own performance.
He said: “We’re excited to offer pianists of all abilities the chance to take part in marking this historic occasion.
“We want to demonstrate the passion and joy these majestic pieces evoke in musicians of all ages and experiences.”
