Artists across the north-east are being urged to submit their work for the first ever online exhibition of Aberdeen Artist Society.
Following Aberdeen Art Gallery’s reopening after its extensive refurbishment, they group had planned to make their return to the spot.
However, plans for their 2020 “coming home” exhibition have now been changed due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Now the group has decided to use technology to create an online exhibition.
Aberdeen Artist Society president Bruce Swanson said: “By continuing with an exhibition the society hopes to fulfill its aim of providing artists with an opportunity to make and show work for an audience in Aberdeen and beyond.
“I am delighted with the AAS team’s tremendous response to this crisis and I hope this exhibition of work online at this difficult time will be a positive experience for everyone.”
The society has been working with both Aberdeen Art Gallery and the city’s museums to reintroduce its works to the newly-refurbished building.
Its planned exhibition was scheduled to be opened on June 6, highlighting the history between the gallery and society.
Instead, the online exhibition will open on June 20 to give artists more time to prepare and submit their work. The deadline for submissions is May 17.
