An exhibition celebrating the best of Aberdeenshire will go on display in Inverurie next week.
Triptych is a three-part show featuring a variety of work including submissions from internationally-renowned photographer Colin Prior, Stonehaven photographer Andy Hall, and a number of keen local photographers and artists.
Aberdeenshire Provost Jill Webster said it would showcase the unique character of the north east’s people and places.
“We have a lot to be proud of in Aberdeenshire but, living here, it’s sometimes easy for us to take the stunning landscapes and natural beauty we see every day for granted,” she said.
“These projects capture that distinctiveness and character of our area exceptionally well.”
The exhibition brings together work from two artistic projects – the Aberdeenshire Ways mobile arts scheme and the Belonging to Aberdeenshire contest – as well as the work of Mr Prior.
Aberdeenshire Ways visited 18 towns and villages across the north-east, travelling more than 300 miles in the Caravan Gallery with artist Jacques Coetzer on board. He spoke to residents across the region, collecting a range of information including objects, stories, songs, images, recipes and more.
The Belonging to Aberdeenshire competition, led by Mr Hall, invited photographers of all skill levels to submit an image of a local feature which meant something special to them.
The exhibition is rounded off with a display of Mr Prior’s work capturing the area through a series of iconic images.
Deputy Provost Norman Smith said: “Showcasing these three quite different but interconnected projects really pulls together the visual aspects of Aberdeenshire’s cultural heritage.
“This exhibition promises to be a fascinating and informative tour of the region and it truly will be an event not to be missed when it reaches your area.”
It will be on show in Inverurie Library from Tuesday, September 9, until Thursday, September 18; Deans of Huntly until Monday September 15; Aboyne Community Centre from Tuesday, September 16, until Thursday, September 25.and Ellon Library from Saturday September 27 until Thursday October 9.
Different works of art will be on show at the venues as the project aims to reach as wide an audience as possible.
