An award-winning author will be in Aberdeen next week to discuss fiction and psychology at the inaugural year of a humanities festival.
English author Will Self will take part in the Being Human event, organised by Aberdeen University, on Friday, November 21.
The festival, which is being held at other cities across the UK, begins this Friday and runs until Sunday November 23.
It will include a host of events aimed at celebrating research taking place into the humanities in the city.
Mr Self will be joined by the university’s Dr Alexandra Lewis for next Friday’s event at 6pm at the university’s King’s College Conference Centre, which will also include a reading from his new novel, Shark.
University vice principle, Professor Margaret Ross, said: “The university has an international reputation for humanities research, and I’m delighted that, through this fascinating series of events, we can engage a wider audience with the creative work we do.”
Dr Rhiannon Thompson, the university’s project officer, said: “We’re delighted to be part of the first ever Being Human festival. The festival will explore how the arts and humanities affect our day to day life and the society around us.”
