A Speyside whisky distillery is offering aspiring artists the chance to grab a prize worth £10,000.
William Grant & Sons of Glenfiddich Distillery is putting up the funding so a lucky candidate can focus fully on creating new work inspired by the picturesque plant.
Over the summer, the winner will spend a three-month residency at the firm’s distillery in Dufftown – staying in a fully equipped house and studio and being paid production fees for new work.
The prize will be issued in March, and the recipient will join the firm’s Artists in Residence scheme.
The competition is open to artists who work in any medium.
Artist in Residence co-ordinator Andy Fairgrieve said: “The context of a fully working distillery presents a unique set of inspirational opportunities for our resident artists.
“With a strong focus on providing a welcoming and supportive environment, the programme excels in allowing creative minds free rein in their projects.
“Over the past 13 years this non prescriptive approach has been rewarded with exciting new works of art across a wide range of media which reinforce the special qualities that are to be found at the Glenfiddich Distillery.”
Since launching in 2002, the scheme has hosted more than 100 artists from 20 countries worldwide.
The Glenfiddich Residency Award will be made in partnership with the Royal Scottish Academy of Art & Architecture, at the RSA New Contemporaries exhibition in March.
