Country park volunteers have launched a creative project to bring a trail of public artworks to their beloved north-east attraction.
Friends of Aden Park said there has been “popular demand” from visitors to have art events or even an outdoor sculpture trail developed for the Mintlaw park.
The group has now appointed artists and designers from Glasgow-based Icecream Architecture to sketch out a proposal for how the scheme can flourish over the next few years.
And Hazel Weeks, from the Friends of Aden Park group, said they need the people who will benefit most from the site to tell them their ideas.
“We are really keen to engage with the local community to find out their ideas and opinions regarding public art,” she said.
“It’s an exciting new creative project for the park, one in which we hope the public will enjoy being part of.”
To kick start the initiative, the artists will take up residence at Aden between Wednesday and Friday next week to hear the views of the visiting public.
Numerous free events will also take place, including a ‘Detective Walk’ on Wednesday from 1pm to 4pm, where the group will be involved in creatively mapping the park.
It will be followed by a ‘Film & Brainstorming Evening’ on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm and a ‘Practical & Playful Morning’ on Friday from 10am to 1pm where people can join the artists to begin making and testing.
All events start from the Aden Theatre.
Friends of Aden Park and the artists will also visit neighbouring villages in the run up to Christmas to lay out their vision for a sculpture trail.
It is understood that a series of temporary artworks will be installed by summer 2016 while plans for permanent sculptures are thrashed out.
Later this month, Aden Park will be transformed for a haunting Halloween festival.
The annual Aden-een event, which attracts thousands of visitors from across Buchan, features a fancy dress parade and a large firework display.
