In return for teaching his friend John Rowan about mountain biking, Gavin Reid got some lessons on how to snowboard.
“I will always thank him for that,” the 38-year-old from Glasgow said.
That was back in 2004 and now Gavin, who works as a joiner, has a real passion for the sport – and has started sharing it with others through his go-pro videos.
His latest footage is from this weekend at Glencoe, accompanied by a group of friends and his fiancee Tara.
“We took advantage of the access chair running at Glencoe… It was amazing as we came out of the grey cloud and seen the mountain basking in the sunshine in the inversion completely white with no wind – perfect!
“We skinned up the main basin and came down Etive Glades to the top of Creag Dhu then back to the access chair before deciding it was too good to go home and skinned back up the spring run for another line.
“Every mountain peak as far as the eye could see was white yesterday…can’t wait for the rest of the season where I can hike some of them and put a nice line down them.
“Hopefully the snow will hang around and the early season turns will continue.”
He added that he like to document all his tours so he can look back on them one day and share what he’s achieved with his family.
