Your smile is often the first thing people notice about you. And for some people, their smile is an area for concern, either because they never had problems fixed when they were younger, or because over the years it’s begun to deteriorate.

But for the award-winning Andrew Scott Dental Care team, transforming a person’s smile is something they are passionate about.

Clinical Director Andrew Scott explained: “With our smile designs, our aim is to not just give patients confidence in the look of their teeth and mouth, but the function too.

“And the best part is that you don’t have to make drastic changes to have significant results.  We never do more than is necessary and one or two procedures could make a big difference.”

Anyone looking to have smile design would initially meet with Clinical Director Andrew Scott to discuss what the patient hopes to achieve and to carry out initial assessments.

The team at Andrew Scott Dental Care then comes together to provide various options for the client using their areas of special interest.

“This is a collaborative process and because we offer so many treatments in-house, it means that the communication between providers is excellent and the patient knows what is happening every step of the way.”

There are various components to a smile design depending on the patient’s individual requirements.

Read on as Andrew talks us through a few of the treatments and procedures, all of which can be done as stand-alone treatments or as part of a smile design.

3D Scanning

“We give our clients a full assessment using our 3D scanner.

“It captures all aspects of your smile – including tooth colour, gums and bite – which will allow us to create a smile that enhances and improves what you already have.

“We then create a design on the computer and our clients can give input into that process to ensure they get the smile they really want.

“The client will then get to see what their smile will look like at the end – before the process has even begun!”

Dental implants

“Having missing teeth can really knock your confidence, as well as affecting the way you eat, speak and smile. Dental implants offer a long-lasting and discreet choice of treatment for replacing teeth.

“A dental implant is a titanium screw which is placed into your jawbone creating the support for a crown, bridge or denture to be fitted onto. The dental implant is normally left for a period of time to allow the bone to strongly integrate with the implant before the final restoration takes place.

“An assessment for dental implants would take place with Clinical Director Andrew Scott and may include a 3D x-ray called a CBCT scan from which a detailed treatment plan would be prepared.”

Veneers

“Veneers are an option if your teeth are stained, chipped, or not aligned on top of each other because they look like natural teeth and don’t require a major procedure.

“A veneer is a very thin, tooth-coloured piece of porcelain (like a false finger nail) that is bonded on top of your own tooth. Based on your needs, we can adjust the shape of your veneers to make your teeth overall look longer and or closer together. You can have just one veneer or a whole set.”

Orthodontic

“At Andrew Scott Dental Care we can offer various orthodontic treatments, however the preferred system that we use is the Smilelign clear aligners which can be used to straighten your teeth giving you the smile you’ve always wanted.

“Smilelign clear braces are virtually invisible, allowing you to straighten your teeth without anyone knowing and each aligner is carefully modelled so that they fit your teeth with minimal discomfort.”

Teeth whitening

“We use at home whitening kits where you wear whitening trays at night for two weeks. The trays are thin, comfortable and custom made fit your teeth precisely. Results can last indefinitely with good oral hygiene and some very simple maintenance. Wearing the trays for 1 night every other month will also prolong results.

“Teeth whitening can whiten your teeth by several shades, however results vary from person to person.”

Cosmetic injections

“Your smile isn’t just about your teeth and that’s why we offer muscle relaxing and filler injections which can address other concerns that our clients may have beyond just their teeth and gums.

“Our Associate Dentist, Patricia Cameron, provides cosmetic injection treatment in a hygienic clinical setting which we believe provides the safest way in which to receive this type of treatment.”

Andrew Scott Dental Care offers clients the opportunity to spread the cost of their treatments for 0% interest over 10 months (terms and conditions apply).
