What: Friends of Anchor celebrated its third annual Masked Ball – raising £90,000 for north-east cancer and haematology care.
Where: The event, sponsored by BP, was once again held in the heart of Aberdeen city, Union Terrace Gardens.
Who: More than 400 guests from across the corporate sector descended on the gardens in a bid to raise awareness and funds for Friends of Anchor.
Why: The local cancer charity has pledged to raise £200,000 towards the overall £1.1million costs to replace the outdated Cyclotron machine at The University of Aberdeen. For many, the essential technology will be a vital part of their diagnosis and the prediction of their treatment response. It will also help individuals avoid unnecessary or unproductive surgery or treatment.
There was spectacular entertainment including a performance from Becca Bee – the Scottish champion of rhythmic gymnastics – during the champagne reception. The musical after-dinner entertainment came from one of Scotland’s most sought-after function bands, Revolution7.
