Halloween is fast approaching and the time for spooky costumes and trick-or-treating is nearly here.
But whether you’re into pumpkins or not, we have a great mix of ideas for things to enjoy doing this weekend.
Sound Festival
If you’re a fan of music that takes you on a sonic journey, then you should definitely consider heading to one of the events taking place at this year’s Sound Festival.
With performances incorporating various forms of contemporary and classical music until Sunday across Aberdeen, highlights include Any Enemy, a north-east new music ensemble, play at Cowdray Hall on Saturday as well as Sunday’s Spotlight Gig with vocalist Stephanie Lamprea and viola player Fiona Winning.

Get in the Halloween spirit
It’s Halloween on Monday, so this weekend is the perfect chance to get yourself in the spooky spirit.
Carving pumpkins is a classic option to get the kids involved with, but make sure not to throw it all away once you’re finished (you can use any excess for cooking in a variety of different ways).
Why not draw out your trick-or-treating route, get dressed for the occasion or spend some time finding out all about Halloween’s fascinating Celtic roots?

Jack Dee
Eden Court in Inverness is set to host a stellar comedy show this Saturday. Jack Dee brings his Off the Telly show to the Highlands off the back of his appearance at the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival earlier this month.
The well-known TV comic is revered for his quick-witted, sardonic humour.
There will be little chance of him cracking a smile of his own on stage – but that certainly won’t be the case when it comes to the audience.

Dornoch Whisky Festival
Lovers of Scotland’s national drink will be flocking to Dornoch this weekend with the return of Dornoch Whisky Festival. Running from today until Sunday, there are plenty of events for whisky novices and connoisseurs alike to enjoy.
Saturday afternoon’s Grand Tasting Event taking place in the marquee of Dornoch Castle grounds is the festival’s main attraction, but other highlights include bottling masterclasses and a wide range of tasting events.

Scenic walks
Autumn is one of the best times to head out on a walk. Colourful leaves, woolly hats and crisp, refreshing air – what could be better?
If you’re keen to take part in a group walk this autumn, both the Ring of Brodgar and Stones of Stenness walks are free to attend and offer informative guided histories of two of Scotland’s most significant stone circles located in Orkney.
Visit historicenvironment.scot for more information on available days for guided walks at both Brodgar and Stenness.
