Do you have plans for Bonfire Night this weekend?
Maybe you’re keen to stay in this year and spend some essential time relaxing. Whichever it may be, take a look at our top five picks of things to do this weekend.
Brodie Illuminated
Each November, Brodie Castle likes to don a dazzling new coat in the form of Brodie Illuminated.
Situated a short drive from Forres, the historic castle is showcasing its impressive light shows every week from Wednesday to Saturday this month.
It features vividly colourful displays projected upon the castle walls, including some animated displays, as well as hosting funfair rides on Fridays and Saturdays and having plenty of warm and tasty refreshments available. Great for a family trip.

Aberdeen Fireworks Display
With the infamous date of November 5 landing this Saturday, fireworks displays and bonfires will light up dark skies across Scotland this weekend to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night.
Aberdeen’s display at the Beach Boulevard promises to be one of its most entertaining yet. Fire jugglers and a charity fire walk will entertain crowds from 7pm before the main event kicks off an hour later.
Park-and-ride buses are also available.

Worn
A gripping new dance production, Worn, will be taking to the stage at Mareel in Lerwick this Saturday.
The show is billed as an emotive dance production, exploring how the body is affected by time and space, alongside the experiences, marks and scars that become part of people’s history and affect present and possible futures.
It’s choreographed and performed by acclaimed contemporary dance duo Errol White and Davina Givan, and asks relevant questions about the acceptance of transience and imperfection.

The Storylands Sessions
The Storylands Sessions are a series of music and storytelling events in Badenoch venues.
Hosted by musician Hamish Napier and writer Merryn Glover, the monthly Open Mic Night, which takes place this Tuesday at Loch Insh Watersports, is a celebration of Highland culture and communities, both traditional and contemporary.
This month’s special guest is Clan MacPherson Museum curator Aila Schäfer, who will be discussing author James MacPherson, with the floor then open to contributions on the theme Tempest.

Cosy up with a book
It wouldn’t be autumn without curling up in warm clothes with a book in hand as winter slowly begins to make its approach outside.
Thankfully, plenty of exciting new releases will be unveiled in the run-up to Christmas. But sometimes, nothing beats picking up a book from your shelf at home.
Whether it’s one of your favourites or another you’ve been meaning to get around to for years, take the time to dive in this weekend.
