The opening date has been unveiled for The Terrace, the new cafe-bar and restaurant at His Majesty’s Theatre.
It will throw open its doors on Saturday December 3 in time for the first performance of this year’s pantomime, Peter Pan.
The stunning new dining space – which will have views over Union Terrace Gardens – was created as part of a £675,000 revamp of the Box Office and foyer area at the theatre.
Aberdeen Performing Arts director of marketing and communications, Leah Hodder, said: “We are so thrilled to be opening The Terrace on December 3. We can’t wait to open the doors and get started.”
Interest in bookings even before date announced for The Terrace opening
There has been keen interest in The Terrace since artists’ impressions of the new restaurant were unveiled at the start of the month, with APA receiving many inquiries about booking, even though the opening date had not been announced.
Leah said: “Bookings are now open for the festive season and beyond into 2023, so if you have a trip to His Majesty’s planned, now is your chance to book a meal at The Terrace to complete your visit to our beautiful theatre.”
The Terrace will be open from Tuesday to Saturday offering light lunches before a matinee or meals with an evening show. It will also offer mid-morning coffees, brunch and light bites into the evening.
There are plans to offer themed meals around the shows appearing at His Majesty’s throughout the year.
Theatre bosses are particularly thrilled to have The Terrace opening at the same time as Peter Pan.
Peter Pan promises to be a festive treat at His Majesty’s
This year’s festive treat stars former Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice finalist Brendan Cole, alongside HMT’s much-loved dame Alan McHugh, along with River City star Paul J Corrigan and Aberdeen’s own Danielle Jam.
Funding for The Terrace redevelopment was made available through Scottish Enterprise and Aberdeen City Council as part of the recovery and rebuilding stimulus after the pandemic to create an open, bright and welcoming new space.
