Helen Forbes is the Inverness-based author of the DS Joe Galbraith novels, and two standalone psychological thrillers.
Her next novel, Queen of Grime, is due out later this year (there may even be a sneak peek of its conclusion below).

I hope my dog wouldn’t actually harm one of the lovely ducks, but she certainly likes to see them off, loudly! I thought she might be daunted by something bigger, but no. I’m going to have to watch this one.
At last, I was able to type the words “The End” on my latest novel, and send it off to the typesetter.
Queen of Grime, the first in a series featuring an Edinburgh crime and trauma scene cleaner, is due out before the end of the year.

A Friday night appearance at the wonderful NessBookFest. We’re so fortunate to have this amazing annual festival in Inverness, with free events and a great range of speakers.
It’s lovely to get back to doing events in public once again.
As ever, I was nervous before it began. But I quickly settled into it, and was sorry when it was over.

I love the peace of this little sanctuary hidden in the midst of the village.
And breathe.
