The weather may be getting chillier but there is nothing cold about the most comforting colour trend for the coming season.
The latest shades for home décor are the equivalent of snuggling under a cosy blanket with tea and toast in front of the fire.
Helen Shaw, UK marketing director at paint manufacturer Benjamin Moore has broken the trend down into four main colour groups and explained what they can do for our homes this winter and beyond.
She said: “Our homes during winter 2022/23 will be filled with warm, nourishing colours that burst with optimism and individuality.
“We anticipate seeing a lot of experiment with a host of colourways and here are our top predictions:
Pretty Perfect Pinks – for uplift and optimism
“We’re not talking hot pink here, so beloved by Barbiecore followers. What we crave are the more nuanced shades, with their deliciously complex undertones that make the colour feel much more grown-up and liveable.
“Expect to see a lot of pinks with an undertone of orange that could be described as coral pink or peach, or shades with a much more earthy undertone of grey/brown that have the look of terracotta or pale plaster.
“They’re easy to live with, and easy to love.”
New Rich Neutrals – for balance and grounding
“We’re stretching the term ‘neutral’ here, away from a proliferation of whites and calico shades, and more towards deliciously rich, strong hues inspired by nature that will work their magic at any time of day, and in any natural light, however faded.”
The Dark Side – for cossetting and warmth
“If you have toyed with the idea of embracing your dark side over recent seasons, now is most definitely the time to be brave.
“The trend for dark hues continues unabated with a surge of popularity for dark teals, rich violets and plum tones, and an abundance of greens, reds and blues putting in an appearance.”
Bare Necessities – for peace and tranquility
“Yes, this autumn is bursting with colour and depth, but if you’re a die-hard lover of the wonder of white, it’s possible to choose a neutral white shade that’s also brimming with radiance.
“Our favourites are whites with a yellow or red undertone.
“They will satisfy your lust for a clean, fresh environment while enveloping you in a sense of calm.”
