What: Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Where: No 1 Bar & Grill, Queen’s Terrace, Aberdeen.
Who: As well as representatives from locally-based businesses, Aberdeen’s Lord Provost, George Adam, attended and spent time talking to company representatives, organisers and members of Macmillan staff.
Why: The event was one of some 1,300 coffee mornings staged in the north-east and Aberdeen to raise money for Macmillan. Guests enjoyed cakes supplied by Macphies of Glenbervie and volunteer bakers, and guessed the weight of a fruit cake and the number of spots on a special Macmillan cake.
The event, to promote the work of Macmillan within the business community, also raised some £2,000 in donations.
The excess cakes and baked goods were donated to a local food bank so nothing was wasted.
