What: The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival Touch of Tartan opening dinner
Where: Glen Grant Distillery, Rothes
Who: 300 whisky lovers from all corners of the UK and overseas attended the event.
Why: The dinner marked the official opening of the event, which is now in its 15th year. Special guest Charlie MacLean, who starred in the hit movie The Angels’ Share, officially got the festival and a programme of over 370 events under way.
In addition to the traditional elements including distillery tours, nosing events and tastings, a new festival within the festival was launched – the Spirit of Speyside Sessions. The music programme featured some of the country’s top traditional musician perform in a whisky-related venues.
