Book review: Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse by David Mitchell

Everyone has an opinion. Comedian David Mitchell has lots of them, and has jotted them down in his new book.
However, these opinions have previously been recorded elsewhere, in the form of his weekly column in the Observer newspaper, and have more or less been copied, pasted, and strung together into a rather disjointed collection of rants.
Having never read Mitchell’s column myself, I found this book very amusing. I genuinely laughed out loud on numerous occasions while he moaned away about a wide variety of topics, from weighty issues including the war in Iraq, and the financial crisis, to more light-hearted subjects such as Harry Potter, and the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney.
A little more original material would have been nice for the more devoted Mitchell fans, but at face value, his arguments are funny, clever, and well backed up.
Plus, you can’t help but hear his dry, cynical voice as you read, which adds to the humour.
