Banff-born singer Sandi Thom has been confirmed as the latest musical act who will perform at next week’s Taste of Grampian.
The singer, who rose to fame with 2006 hit I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker, will take to the stage at the new extended evening session of the award-winning food and drink festival.
The inaugural function, which takes place immediately after the main event from 5pm to 11pm, is named The Mart Fest.
That name draws on the popularity of the BBC TV series The Mart, which was filmed at Taste of Grampian venue, the Thainstone Centre in Inverurie.
Last month, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers was confirmed as the headline act for the new evening event, which will also feature street food vendors, a beer garden and drinks offerings from various local distillers and breweries.
Carol Fowler of organisers, Prime Event Management, said: “Sandi Thom seemed a natural fit for The Mart Fest thanks to her connections with the area.
“She has been touring all over the world, but is making time to be part of our fantastic line-up. Tickets have been selling really well for The Mart Fest and we look forward to ending Taste of Grampian in style.”
Taste of Grampian and The Mart Fest take place on Saturday June 3.
Entry to the main event, which will also feature the popular Press and Journal/Evening Express Motor Show, is £5 for adults and free for children under 16.
Entry to The Mart Fest is £10 or free for those who have attended the main day event.
