Since its premiere on our screens almost eight years ago, fantasy drama series Game of Thrones has become a worldwide phenomenon.
We’ve seen the show influence the interiors of hotels and bars, to acting as the theme for weddings across the globe.
So it comes as no surprise that as everyone prepares for more drama to unfold on April 14 – the release date of its eighth season – we now have the opportunity to sip away at a Games of Thrones inspired whisky.
But it isn’t the only television series that has had a key part to play in the creation of a themed spirit.
Peaky Blinders – Irish Whiskey
Black Country drinks company Sadler’s introduced a range of gin, rum and Irish whiskey inspired by the hit BBC TV show.
The majority of us will know all about Tommy Shelby and his raucous criminal family, but for those of you that don’t, they are partial to a drink or two.
So introducing a range of spirits based on the gangster drama is certainly appropriate.
All three Peaky Blinder spirits retail for around £22.95.
Dallas – J.R. Ewing Bourbon
In honour of hit TV show Dallas and the release of its third season back in 2014, Warner Bros. partnered with Southfork Bottling Company to create a bourbon inspired by the fictional Texas tycoon.
The bottle features a screen-printed image of Southfork Ranch – the Ewing family residence – and has a retail price of around £27.95.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle – The Glendronach Kingsman Edition 1991 Vintage
Personally selected by director Matthew Vaughn to mark the release of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, this limited edition Speyside single malt from The GlenDronach Distillery is matured for more than 25 years.
The film spawned another spin-off whisky, which honours the American secret agent organisation with a base that doubles as a distillery.
Both bottles are available from most whisky retailers at a pricey £550.
Blade Runner – Johnnie Walker Black Label Director’s Cut
This limited edition Black Label is the ultimate collector’s item for movie lovers – especially with the matching Blade Runner Whisky Glasses.
Johnnie Walker made a brief cameo in the original 1982 Blade Runner, resulting in director Denis Villeneuve collaborating with master blender Jim Beveridge.
39,000 bottles were released worldwide in futuristic boxes to promote the film, and are available at an average price of £120.
