Forget GBBO… Aberdeen’s CakeFest is where you want to be this weekend
ByReporter
While the rest of the country may be obsessed with the TV show Great British Bake Off, in Aberdeen, it is the annual CakeFest event that locals look forward to.
Organised by Friends of Seaton Park, the festival of cake takes place this year on Saturday in the Dunbar Hall, Dunbar Street, Old Aberdeen, when there will be tasting, testing and voting on a delicious array of home bakes, made by bakers vying for the coveted CakeFest Apron.
Part Bake Off, part “Eggs” Factor, it is a fun coffee morning with a difference as those coming along get to judge and eat the entries.
For youngsters there is cupcake decorating and an Easter colouring competition, plus there will be a craft stall overflowing with handmade items and a prize raffle.
And there is still time for bakers to enter…
All you need do is make your favourite bake and bring it along at 9.15am on the day, along with a list of ingredients.
Otherwise, come along, pay ÂŁ3 for three slices of cake and a cuppa and vote for your favourite.
