Flapjacks, brownies, cookies, marmalades, chutneys and jams are among the impressive product portfolio under the Kincardine Castle Kitchen brand.

Not to mention their most popular and award-winning cheese sables, which won a prestigious two-star rating in the 2019 Great Taste Awards, with the judges praising their ‘wonderful texture’ and ‘excellent flavour’.

Located in Royal Deeside, overlooking the famous River Dee, Kincardine Castle Kitchen produces preserves, biscuits and snacks which are sold in local retailers and at farmers’ markets throughout the north-east.

The small, close-knit team of dedicated cooks and bakers includes husband and wife Rupert Holden and Louisa Bradford.

The couple relocated to Aberdeenshire, a few hundred yards from Louisa’s family home, in 2015 after meeting through teaching at Leiths School of Food and Wine in London.

Neither has looked back since.

Over the past seven years, Rupert and Louisa have been running a successful private catering business and, in 2019, they took over Kincardine Castle Kitchen from Louisa’s mother Nicky.

The River Dee can be spotted from the business’ base.

With backgrounds in restaurant cooking and event catering, they are both very keen and able cooks and are passionate about good food, to say the least.

They strive to make the finest products using traditional ingredients, avoiding artificial additives, colours and preservatives, and aim to do as much as possible by hand.

This is Louisa and Rupert’s Kincardine Castle Kitchen story…
