We’re well and truly into strawberry picking season, and I for one have loved taking advantage of it.
Running from late May through to September, we have pulled together a list of places in the north-east that are offer strawberry picking in the warmer months.
The activity is fun for all ages, allows you to explore different parts of the region’s scenic countryside, and provides you with a lovely accompaniment for ice cream, of course.
Let’s not forget that you simply cannot get fresher ingredients than those you pick yourself.

Not only is Castleton Farm a successful family-run business that grows and supplies fruit and manufactures food products, but it also has its own café and farm shop.
In terms of fruit picking at the farm, visitors can choose from gooseberries, blackcurrants and, of course, strawberries – the best of the bunch.
Castleton Farm strawberries are harvested for nine months of the year, from the end of March right through to December, and are popular throughout Scotland.

Charleton Fruit Farm
Situated on the outskirts of Montrose, Charleton Fruit Farm is committed to offering quality local produce and tasty food.
But the farm’s popularity has been built around the quality of its strawberries, which you can pick from late June/early July to August.
Better than that, you can also buy the strawberries in the shop or eat them in one of the business’ famous Charleton tarts…
