Summer is fast approaching. And what does the season bring? Events – and lots of them too.
The Highlands, Islands and Moray have already played host to a line-up of exciting events this year for all ages since coronavirus restrictions have eased.
Taste of Nairn and the Highland Beer, Gin and Whisky Festival are prime examples of this, both of which were hailed a success.
But the region also plays host to another form of event all year round that I believe, as I’m sure many of you will agree, we need to shout about more.
What am I referring to exactly? Farmers’ markets.
Showcasing a wide range of items made by the region’s finest producers, farmers’ markets have a multitude of benefits. They:
- Shine a light on local, independent businesses
- Provide visitors with the freshest, seasonal ingredients
- Showcase a wide variety of products
- Allow you to support local farmers, business owners and communities

The list goes on.
But with farmers’ markets now back in full swing in most areas, the Food and Drink Team has pulled together an interactive map of all the events taking place in the Highlands, Islands and Moray.
The map also provides information regarding when the markets take place and who to contact should you have any inquiries.
With 12 featured on the interactive map, there is plenty to check out in the coming months.
