Karla Sinclair rounds up the best cafes for families to stop by in the Granite City.

Schools have broken up for the summer and, let’s face it, it can prove challenging to find pastimes that will ensure the entire family is kept entertained.

While there are a number of picturesque parks, attractions and activity centres in the city, there’s one thing that everyone would enjoy without fail – tucking into good food.

The following cafes are perfect for parents that need some time out of the house, but also require there to be plenty food and drink on offer for the kids.

Whether they adore savoury options like bagels, soup or burgers, or would rather sink their teeth into sweet treats, you’re sure to find several eateries to visit in this listicle.

Jojo’s Coffee Shop

If I had to recommend one thing for people, young and old, to order at Jojo’s Coffee Shop, it’s the cafe’s chocolate fondue.

Comprising luxurious Belgian chocolate served with chocolate brownie, banana bread, marshmallows, warm Belgian waffles and fresh fruit, the menu item is not only tasty, but it’s fun to eat too.

Just be sure to have some napkins at the ready…

Corner Tree Cafe

Does a member of your family have allergens they need to watch out for? Well, you’re in luck, for Corner Tree Cafe caters to vegans as well as those who are gluten intolerant.

Serving brunch, lunch and afternoon tea, it is a great pitstop for all ages.

There’s even a kid’s menu featuring several sandwiches and pancake stacks, with toppings including Nutella, maple syrup, fresh fruit and bacon.

Cup

The menu at Cup is one of the most impressive in the city when it comes to its varied offering for both adults and children. All of you will be spoilt for choice.

A children’s afternoon tea, chocolate fondue and a ‘kiddie board’ comprising orange juice, mini cereal, Nutella pancake and a mini bacon roll are just some of the dishes available for the little ones.

Not only that, but the menu also features a number of brekkie boards too.

Café 100

If you or your loved ones ever find yourselves craving breakfast items at peculiar times throughout the day, then Cafe 100 will become your new go-to eatery.

Known locally for its delicious all-day breakfasts, the dishes won’t disappoint even the fussiest of eaters.

The business’ ‘full works’ breakfast features two bits of grilled bacon, two fried beef and pork sausages, one fried egg grilled tomato, potato scone, hashbrown, mushrooms and black pudding with Heinz beans and buttered toast.

Address: 100 Holburn Street, Mannofield, Aberdeen AB10 6BY

The Tartan Pig Coffee House

The Tartan Pig Coffee House is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. If you fall into this category and my listicle encourages you to visit, then you can thank me later.

Brownies, blondies, scones, croissants, cakes, cupcakes and muffins are just some of the products the team bakes fresh daily for customers to enjoy.

There’s also smoothies, milkshakes and plenty of coffees to choose from.

Kirk View

One of my personal favourite cafes for families in Aberdeen is Kirk View, which set up shop in a new city centre location last year.

If you and your family adore tapas-style dishes, then the eatery will be right up your street.

Oh, and they serve plenty of cocktails, beers, gins and wines for the adults…

The Highlander Cafe Bus

A unique experience awaits you and your loved ones at The Highlander Cafe Bus. Why, you may be asking? The clue is in the name.

Yes, you guessed it, you get to tuck into a variety of tasty dishes inside a bus at Aberdeen’s beachfront.

Not only is the view something to appreciate, but the food and drinks have also received superb reviews from customers since the business set up shop.

Blether

Cafes for families are evidently located all over the city. If you’re in the Cults area, then Blether should be on your list of eateries to stop by.

While there are plenty of sweet and savoury products to sample, I’d urge you to place opt for a scone.

Flavours have included pomegranate and orange, apple and strawberry, pineapple and coconut, rhubarb and strawberry, cheese, raspberry and peach and blueberry.
