Everything you need to know about Brewdog’s 2022 AGM at Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Park

After two years of logging onto live streams, Brewdog’s annual AGM will return for its first in-person event this weekend.

Around 10,000 Equity Punk shareholders and their plus ones will descend upon Aberdeen for the event on Saturday August 13.

With people traveling from all over the globe to attend, there will be visitors from England, Edinburgh, Inverness and more, as well as plenty of locals in attendance.

In traditional Brewdog style, the event for shareholders is not a typical annual general meeting (AGM) but it is instead an “annual general mayhem”.

Alongside a business update from co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie which will take place around 2pm, Brewdog fans will be able to enjoy a range of beers, street food and entertainment from some of Scotland’s best and up-and-coming bands.

Who can go and how many tickets do they get?

The AGM is only for those who are Equity Punk shareholders and who have secured a ticket to the event.

Each shareholder is allowed to take a plus one with them, however, to gain entry, the shareholder must be present when both parties enter.

The public cannot purchase tickets or get access to the event, only shareholders with tickets.

Those attending can also leave and come back later if you need a break, but be aware that last entry is 9pm.

Where and when is it taking place?

You’ll find an array of tents set up at Hazlehead Park for the event which takes place tomorrow (Saturday August 13).

For those who are local, the AGM will be based where the enclosed dog park usually is and where the Aberdeen Highland Games took place. For those who aren’t, it is the big grass area in the middle of the park.

The event takes place from 12.30pm until 10pm when all music will come to a close.

The gates will then close at 10.30pm to give people time to leave.

Can I take my children?

Those attending must be over the age of 18 and everyone must have a ticket to enter the event.

Challenge 25 will be in operation at the door and at all bars, so it is wise to take ID with you to ensure you don’t get refused service. Valid ID is vital so a passport or driving license will do the trick.

Card payments are king

Everyone who has a ticket receives a £20 beer voucher which is sent to them via email. You can use the QR code to get any of the beers, however this voucher cannot be used to purchase food.

The event is cashless, meaning all other payments outwith the voucher need to be paid by card.

What beers will be on offer?

Welcoming some of the world’s best breweries to pour at the event the tap list hasn’t been revealed yet, but is said to feature a whole collection of styles and flavours.

However, organisers have guaranteed there will be plenty of it.

There will also be beer tastings and a Brewdog Distilling tent to check out.

What can I get to eat?

The food offering at this year’s AGM is not for the faint hearted.

With 16 different food trucks available to try out you won’t go hungry. From plant-based options to loaded fries, burgers, paella, fish and chips and more, there’s plenty options to choose from.

And, there’s plenty of local street food vendors included in the mix which means you’ll be lining the pockets of some fantastic local businesses when you buy food.

What bands are playing?

The line-up for this year’s Brewdog AGM features everyone from Aberdeen-based band Miss Lucid, up-and-coming Aberdeen band The Capollos who have been touring the UK for the last year, and The La Fontaines will then follow.

The Motherwell band is best known for their songs Under the Storm and Scotland, Bonnie Scotland which was written for the Euros 2020.

The Mystery Jets who are from Twikenham will also be performing. They are best known for their songs Young Love and Two Doors Down.

Last but not least, punters will be able to enjoy headliners, The Zutons, who were formed in Liverpool and shot to fame with their songs Valerie and You Will You Won’t.

I’m worried about the heat, will there be water available?

There will be free drinking water at the event where beer lovers can fill up empty reusable cups.

Outside products cannot be brought from outside the venue. This includes all food and drink.

Can I bring my dog?

While Brewdog is a dog-friendly brand, no dogs are allowed at the event in Hazlehead Park.

What about a camping chair?

Nope. No camping chairs are allowed and if you are taking a bag, make sure it is smaller than A3 or you won’t be guaranteed entry into the venue.

What is the best way to get there?

People will be travelling from all over the world, but to get to the park in Aberdeen your best bet is to either walk or travel by bus, taxi or car.

BrewDog is running busses from Union Square, Ellon, Inverurie, Peterhead and Kingswells Park and Ride, although these are advised to be booked in advance.

The brand’s famous AGM walk from Castlegate will see some head off from the bar and make their way to the park. It is around an hour walk.
