A new ‘low-fat’ restaurant in Peterhead promises a full range of European and Indian dishes without the grease.
Mo’s Fusion, which opened late last month on Queen Street, swaps out greasy oils and butters for olive oil and promises customers healthier fare.
Meanwhile, the restaurant operates a dual menu – serving pizza, lasagna and burgers during the day and traditional curries at night.
According to owner Mohammad (Mo) Omar Faruk, the extra choice means everyone can find something they like.
“This is the kind of place people can come for a family meal,” Mo says. “Everyone will enjoy it.”
Mo’s Fusion opened late last month serving Indian food from 4pm to past midnight.
The lunch menu is due to start this week from 10:30am to 3pm, with Mo promising European dishes such as burgers, pasta and pizza.
For evenings, Mo recommends his fruity-style tikka masala, which he promises can’t be found anywhere else.
Asked why he’s gone for two different menus, Mo jokes that the split between lunch and dinner makes it easier for his staff.
“I don’t want to mix things up,” he says. “My chefs will be under pressure and I don’t want my chefs to be under pressure.”
Peterhead ‘a very good place’ for Mo’s Fusion
Mo, who is originally from Bangladesh and has lived in the UK for 12 years, says Peterhead is a good place to open a restaurant despite the current climate.
“At the moment, it’s a tough time to run a business,” he says. “Before people would order an individual curry each, but now people want to share one.
“But Peterhead is a very good place. We’re hoping to give the local community support and do something different.”
With Christmas around the corner, Mo’s Fusion is set to launch a festive menu.
The £24.95-per-person meal starts on December 1 and includes a starter, main course, side dish, rice or naan and dessert.
Customers can also have a glass of wine or a bottle of beer.
Mo’s Fusion is at 31-33 Queen Street, Peterhead. The restaurant is open seven days a week and offers sit-down and takeaway food.
