Where to grab a bite to eat at Elgin's Christmas Light Switch On

The time of year has arrived when locals prepare for Elgin’s Christmas Light Switch On.

If you intend on getting in the festive spirit in the city centre this Saturday (November 25) from 10am to 5pm, which is the run time of the celebrations, then you’ll be glad to know there is plenty of entertainment in store.

Not only that, a number of cafes and restaurants in the area will be open and serving a range of tasty sweet and savoury treats during and/or after the event.

Whether it be coffee and a cake or a cup of mulled wine with a mince pie, I have listed them below.

The Drouthy Cobbler

If you fancy an impressive meal or cocktail this Saturday, then head to The Drouthy Cobbler.

Open until 11pm, tucking into a tasty main and/or dessert — paired with an espresso martini — would be the perfect way to round off the day.

Orrin Restaurant & Bar

Orrin fast became a well-favoured restaurant and bar in Elgin when it opened its doors.

Those of you planning on enjoying the festivities in the city centre this weekend should take full advantage of the venue.

Expect beautifully crafted dishes made with seasonal produce that will leave you feeling both full and incredibly satisfied.

The Ditsy Teacup

Open from 9am to 4pm, there is plenty of opportunity to stop by The Ditsy Teacup, too.

They announce what’s on offer in the tearoom that day every morning, so be sure to keep an eye on the business’ Facebook page to see what you could be tucking into.

Dishes and bakes that have been available at The Ditsy Teacup in the past include Cadbury Wispa Gold scones, strawberry blondies, sweet potato and chilli soup, and caramel brownies.

MNMs Cafe

MNMs Cafe in Elgin, the second MNMs location to be opened by managing partners Megan Mclean and Nicola Mackinlay, would be a superb foodie pitstop for the family.

The selection of sweet treats available is staggering, featuring something to suit all dietary requirements.

If it were me stopping by, I would be reaching out for a Biscoff and white chocolate blondie if they were among the treats on the counter.

Pizzeria Planta

If pizza is all you can think of whilst enjoying Elgin’s Christmas Light Switch On, then Pizzeria Planta has got you covered.

Standing as Elgin’s only authentic Neapolitan pizzeria, there is plenty to get stuck into.

Mozzarella and garlic butter, rocket and parmesan salad, homemade garlic bread, and dessert calzones are also on offer, along with a selection of wines and beers.
