An award-winning pie is just one of the Fraserburgh delicacies to star in BBC Scotland TV show Eat the Town that this week highlights the best food in the Broch.
Eat the Town, which visited Fraserburgh for its second episode due to air on Thursday, has its host tucking into a delicious macaroni pie from local baker Pie Aroma.
Last month, that very pie won a gold medal at the World Championships Scotch Pie Awards in Glasgow.
And it was a hit with Eat the Town presenter Natalie Erskine, who declared it to be a “taste sensation”.
Eat the Town follows Natalie and fellow presenter and comedian Dazza Dowling as they tour some of Scotland’s smaller towns to uncover local culinary gems and delights.
The duo order local snacks and meals for each other and score them as they go. Whoever earns the most points wins the coveted prize of dessert.
What food do Natalie and Dazza eat when out and about in Fraserburgh?
The Fraserburgh episode, which is already available on iPlayer with the rest of the Eat the Town series, shows them visiting lots of local favourites.
Along with the Pie Aroma buy, which Natalie picked up in the Wholehearted store on the High Street, the pair eat a Jack Daniel’s chicken pie from Bruce of Broch on Broad Street.
For breakfast, they visit Mrs Maitland’s, a cafe in the Maitland’s furniture shop on Cross Street.
Dinner is at The Captain’s Table restaurant on Seaforth Street.
Natalie and Dazza tuck into a langoustine cocktail, lobster gnocchi and creamy Cajun chicken courtesy of owner Sam Masson, who next month will host a special ‘Karen Night’ at her restaurant, where staff are purposefully rude to customers.
Eat the Town ends in Bicocchis near the harbour where the hosts share their final scores over an ice cream.
Other towns in Scotland to get the Eat the Town treatment are Dumfries and Forfar.
In Forfar, which aired last week, Natalie and Dazza buy a giant bridie from local favourite McLaren Bakers.
They also bought a panzerotti, which is a semi-circular pizza pocket with fillings on the inside. Instead of baked like a calzone it is deep fried.
Eat The Town is available on BBC iPlayer. The Fraserburgh episode airs on BBC Scotland at 8.30pm on Thursday February 9.
