Mix up these spooktacular Halloween-inspired cocktails including a Pumpkin Spiced Espresso Martini

There’s no tricks just treats in this round-up of delicious Halloween cocktails you can try out at home.

Halloween is one of those times of the year where, like Easter and Christmas, sweets and chocolate seem to be a focal point.

But it’s not just the kids that get to treat themselves this Halloween as we’ve got a number of alcoholic beverages that adults can enjoy.

From a pumpkin spiced punch to a toffee appletini, not to mention a take on the classic bramble, there’s plenty of inspiration in our Halloween-themed round-up.


Scary Mary by Boozy Events

(Serves 1)

Ingredients

  • 50ml Aperol
  • 25ml vodka
  • 25ml blood orange reduction* (or purchase blood orange syrup online)
  • 50ml orange juice
  • 12.5ml lime juice
  • Bar spoon of marmalade
  • Egg white
  • Fresh rosemary, to garnish

Method

  1. Add a spoon of marmalade (preferably no/low peel variety), an egg white, orange juice, Aperol, vodka and blood orange reduction into a glass Boston shaker.
  2. Shake hard without ice (dry shake).
  3. Keep shaking until there are no lumps of marmalade at the bottom of the shaker.
  4. Once fully shaken, add a scoop of ice to the shaker then shake again hard.
  5. Double strain into a glass, keeping the shaker moving while pouring to get all the foam out.
  6. Garnish with a bunch of charred rosemary.

*How to make the Blood orange reduction:

  1. In a milk pan, bring the blood orange juice to just over boiling.
  2. Add approx 25% of the original volume of juice in sugar (eg. for 200ml of juice add 50g of sugar)
  3. Boil until reduced by a third and remove from heat and let cool.

Swamp Juice by Soul Bar

(Serves 1)

Ingredients

  • 50ml melon liqueur
  • 12.5ml lychee syrup
  • 25ml coconut puree
  • 25ml pineapple juice
  • Half squeezed lime

Method

  1. Shake in a cocktail shaker and strain into a highball with crushed ice

Pumpkin Spiced Espresso Martini by Soul Bar

(Serves 1)

Zombie, Pumpkin Spiced Espresso Martini and Swamp Juice.

Ingredients

  • 25ml Ketel One vodka
  • 25ml coffee liqueur
  • 50ml espresso
  • Pumpkin spice syrup

Method

  1. Shake in a cocktail shaker and double strain into a coupe glass.
  2. Garnish with cinnamon dusting.

Zombie

(Serves 1)

Ingredients

  • 25ml Havana 3
  • 12.5ml Passoa
  • 12.5ml apricot brandy
  • 25ml pineapple juice
  • 25ml orange juice

Method

  1. Shake in a cocktail shaker and strain into a highball with crushed ice.
  2. Garnish with half of a passionfruit (fill this with rum, then you can set the alcohol alight for effect).

Bacardi’s Pumpkin Spiced Punch

(Serves 4)

Ingredients
  • 200ml Bacardi Spiced or any spiced rum
  • 200ml cloudy apple juice
  • 80ml pumpkin spiced syrup
  • 300ml breakfast tea
  • 1-4 pinches of salt
Method
  1. Fill the bottom of your pumpkin punch bowl with cubed ice.
  2. Pour all of the ingredients over the ice and gently stir.
  3. Using a ladle, serve this alcoholic potion in a highball glass.

Pumpkin Spiced Cosmopolitan

(Serves 1)

Ingredients
  • 25ml Absolut citron vodka
  • 25ml triple sec
  • 15ml Monin pumpkin spiced syrup
  • 15ml lime juice/citric acid
  • 75ml cranberry juice
Method
  1. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a lime wheel – enjoy!

Toffee Appletini

(Serves 1)

Ingredients
  • 25ml Stolichnaya vodka
  • 25ml Giffard green apple liqueur
  • 15ml Monin caramel syrup
  • 15ml lime juice/citric acid
  • 75ml apple juice
Method
  1. Shake and strain into a martini glass and garnish with an apple slice (dipped in caramel if possible),

Bramble Bite

(Serves 1)

Ingredients

  • 50ml Ardbeg Wee Beastie
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 10ml vanilla syrup
  • 15ml blackberry liqueur
  • Mint sprig
  • Blackberry

Method

  1. Add Ardbeg, lemon juice and syrup to a stemmed water goblet half-filled with crushed ice.
  2. Muddle a little before adding in more crushed ice.
  3. Drizzle with dripping blackberry liqueur and garnish with a mint sprig and a blackberry.

Elayne’s Jalapeno Daiquiri

(Serves 1)

Ingredients
  • 50ml Copalli white rum (or any other white rum)
  • 20ml rich simple syrup
  • 20ml fresh lime juice
  • 1 jalapeno slice, to garnish
Method
  1. Mix all of the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker and shake.
  2. Serve the drink in a short glass with one large ice cube.
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel and very thin slice of a jalapeno.

Bloody Rob Roy

(Serves 1)

Ingredients
  • 50ml Ardbeg Wee Beastie
  • 20ml sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Orange twist
  • Cherry
Method
  1. Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass,  stirring for dilution.
  2. Strain into a coupe glass, garnish and serve.

Bubble Beast

(Serves 1)

Ingredients
  • 50ml Ardbeg Wee Beastie
  • 15ml Nocino
  • 30ml carrot juice
  • 5ml tonic syrup
  • 60-90ml soda water
  • A pinch of salt
  • Basil
  • Saffron
Method
  1. Capture all liquid ingredients within a Collins glass, stir slowly, adding a serving
    of ice.
  2. Top with soda water before garnishing.
