The Unspoken Truths exhibition is very personal to Jane McDonough; she has been using art as a way of coping with chronic pain.
In May 2015, Jane had a unilateral Sacroiliac Joint Fusion and set out on a very long journey of rehabilitation and recovery. After struggling to put her feelings into words, art has now given her a voice and way of addressing what goes on in her mind.
Jane’s collection gives a thought-provoking insight into chronic pain, physical pain, emotional pain, invisible illness, living with a long-term health condition, mental-health issues, medication, side effects, mindfulness, meditation, reiki, counselling and art therapy.
Jane said: “The paintings developed whilst on a long rehabilitation period following surgery on my pelvis. I am sharing the collection to raise awareness and to give more understanding. Even though we are all on our own journey, sometimes sharing what we are going through can connect with someone and make a difference.”
The Unspoken Truths exhibition is at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness until February 23. See www.landhallowcrafts.com/unspoken-truths.php
