When the Laing family arrived at Woodstock, little Kirsten was only six months old and her parents were on the lookout for an idyllic childhood upbringing.
With panoramic views, this four-bedroom bungalow at Muir of Fowlis has certainly provided the rural dream, and the family will be sad to leave after 14 very happy years.
Proud parents, Scott and Christianne, are now preparing to make the move to Aberdeen so Kirsten can be closer to friends, for their little girl has grown up fast.
With Scott spending much of his time overseas with the oil industry, Christianne is also looking forward to walking to work at Aberdeen University.
A keen runner, she’ll miss plugging in her headphones and heading out on the numerous routes on offer in Muir of Fowlis and she has also become part of the community in Alford.
She hopes new owners will enjoy the space on offer, and the family will be leaving Woodstock in immaculate condition.
“This is the only home Kirsten has ever known so it will be really hard to leave, and I’m not sure Jasmine our cat will be keen either,” said Christianne.
“Kirsten does a lot of after school clubs and now she is truly a teenager, we think it might be better to live more centrally.
“We’re going to be rather upset to leave however and Woodstock has been our very own slice of paradise.
“We were on the lookout for more space when we came across Woodstock, and we couldn’t have asked for more.”
The property is certainly well suited to family life, and every room has been redecorated.
The end result is fresh and stylish with a wonderful modern look, all the new owners need to do is move in!
Karndean flooring sets the tone in the reception hall and continues through to the south-facing lounge, and this room will surely be the heart of the home.
Three windows look out towards stunning views and you’ll be able to watch the seasons change.
You need not worry about the winter months thanks to the LPG inset fire, and this feature really sets the tone for cosy evenings.
The joy of Woodstock comes partly with its versatility, and there is enough space on offer to create an impressive dining space alongside a relaxation zone.
If you have little ones you could even create an area for toys etc, as further dining options can be found in the kitchen.
“We wanted room for Kirsten’s toys and for her to grow up, from learning to walk to watching films together,” said Christianne.
“We actually spend most of our time in the kitchen though with Scott away, and I love cooking healthy meals.
“The kitchen is new as I wanted a modern space where I could easily rustle up meals, but I wanted it to feel homely as well.”
The breakfasting kitchen as it’s known is certainly on trend, and there are open views towards the gardens and woodlands.
There are solid oak wood surfaces and red glazed splashback areas illuminated from above, for a fresh and different look.
The Blanco sink includes a flexible hot tap whilst the central breakfast bar includes wine racks at one end and storage at the other.
It’s not hard to see why Christianne loves this room with its mix of impressive interior design and practicality.
All four bedrooms are of an excellent size, and two bedrooms are en suite.
Versatility is the order of the day once again as one double bedroom is in use as a dining room and home cinema.
This demonstrates just how adaptable Woodstock is, with the rooms easily converted to suit your needs.
The family bathroom includes a three-piece suite and has a separate bath and shower.
Head outside to the gardens which have been designed with low maintenance in mind, although this means any keen gardeners have a blank canvas on which to work from.
The rear garden is south facing and completely enclosed whilst a paved area to the front is ideal for alfresco dining.
The Laing’s have enjoyed the rural lifestyle but Alford is only a short drive away, where there are plenty of amenities.
“It feels like the right time for us to move as a family, we just hope someone else can have as much happiness at Woodstock,” said Christianne.
Offers should be made in the region of more than £310,000.
