Want a home like no other? Visit Midmar this weekend and you might just find it, writes Cheryl Livingstone
The words “unique” and “one of a kind” get bandied about a lot in property schedules and they are words that are not very journalist-friendly either.
For to be unique or a one of a kind, a property has to be just that. There can be nothing else like it. So if it is your dream to live in a truly unique home, it can sometimes be quite a chore to find one that is like no other. But I think I might have done it.
Number 10 Glenwood Park in Midmar was individually designed by the current owners and constructed two years ago. You really can’t get more “one of a kind” than that. It was designed to create a “timeless look”, according to the schedule, and to be an exceptionally spacious home. I would say it ticks both those boxes.
It is clear from the moment that you lay your eyes on this five-bedroom home, on the market for offers over £490,000, that every detail has been carefully thought about; from the oak doors, facings and skirtings to the position of the staircase.
Stepping directly into the inviting hall, this has an imposing double-height ceiling with two front-facing windows. Interestingly, shapely spaces in the reception hall and on the upper landing have been created to link all rooms instead of corridors.
Rooms of note include the elegant lounge with dual-aspect windows, the kitchen, family and sun room which enjoys the benefits of an open-plan layout, giving a contemporary feel for the modern family, and a quality kitchen fitted with a range of high-gloss units and finished with solid oak work surfaces to complement. The American fridge/freezer is also included in the sale.
The splendid master bedroom is also sure to impress and takes full advantage of the far-reaching countryside views from the balcony which can be reached via french doors. Within the corridor there are built-in wardrobes and access to en-suite facilities.
Outside, the surrounding front and rear garden grounds are mainly laid to lawn. The front courtyard provides parking for several cars leading to a double integral garage.
