VIDEO: Is this the ultimate dream home for horse lovers?

When Pamela McLean discovered she was pregnant, she set out to find the perfect family home which would suit the three other frisky charges in her life.

It would be no easy task as only the best would do for the McLean family, which consisted of Pamela, her husband James, and her three horses.

The consultant nurse started riding relatively late in life but discovered it was her passion, so the search was on for a home which could accommodate everyone.

It has been 11 years since she found Three Acres in Memsie near Fraserburgh, and complete with floodlit arena it has been the ultimate horsey home.

Few riders have the luxury of being able to stable their horses on their doorstep, and rely on costly livery instead.

It’s taken years of hard work, as Pamela only had a vision and of course the available land when the family first moved in.

Three Acres is now a beautiful four bedroom home and as the name suggests, is set in three acres of land.

“My thoughts turned to finding a family home when we fell pregnant with our daughter, Carey, who is now 10,” said Pamela.

“It had to be a home which came with land though as I had this vision of building my own arena for the horses.

“I was 25 when I first started riding which is actually pretty late, but I’ve been passionate about it ever since.

“The main pull for us with Three Acres was how much land it came with, but we’ve been working on it for the past 10 years.

“It was certainly in need of some TLC but we knew we’d found the right place.”

Pamela is excited to start a fresh chapter and is set to take over from her father with running the family farm, but she has very happy memories of Three Acres.

The heart of the home is the beautiful dining kitchen, which is filled with light thanks to double aspect windows.

Beautiful cream coloured shaker style units contrast with wood effect worktops, and a quarry tile floor.

Quirky features include a lovely stable door, and there’s plenty of space for large dining furniture.

“Everything needed to be rebuilt both inside and outside and we’re really pleased with the kitchen,” said Pamela.

“It’s very much the focal point of our home and we have lots of memories, there’s been plenty of cups of coffee sat round our kitchen table.”

From the kitchen you step up into the family room, and all rooms have oil controlled underfloor heating.

The family room would be perfect for children and is incredibly versatile as well as stylish, with a rustic oak laminate floor.

A glazed door opens in to the front hallway off which all bedrooms, the study and the lounge are accessed.

The lounge offers the perfect entertaining space come the evening, with French doors providing access to the garden.

For Pamela, the ultimate luxury has been the master bedroom.

“I love it because it’s en-suite and I love how we’ve decorated it,” she said.

It boasts “his ‘n hers” sinks set in fitted furniture, toilet and a corner shower with eye catching black wet-wall paneling and a tiled floor.

The remaining three bedrooms are all of good size and offer excellent storage.

The family bathroom has also been fitted to a high standard.

It is of course the grounds of Three Acres which truly set it apart however.

The land has been divided up into a garden, paddock, and arena, and Pamela believes it offers great versatility.

“The ideal new owners would of course keep horses but there are other options available too,” she said.

The large outbuilding has moveable pens and could easily be adapted as a workshop.

But for the riders out there, you can’t get much more convenient than an arena on site.

“We’ve loved living here and we’ve also made so many friends,” said Pamela.

“We have very good neighbours and we often go out hacking together.

“If you need help there’s a brilliant network close at hand.

“Carey also rides and has loved growing up here, we’re excited to move forward but we’ll certainly miss Three Acres.”

Offers should be made over £350,000.
