After more than 35 years in their beloved family home, Alan and Elizabeth Benton have decided to start a new chapter of their lives, but will be leaving behind some very happy memories.
Tucked away on the edge of the village of Kintore, Damansara has served as the perfect backdrop for the couple to raise their children, Donna and Craig.
But the youngsters have now flown the nest – and their childhood bedrooms stand empty.
Alan and Elizabeth, now retired, hope a new family can make use of the space but admit leaving the four-bedroom home behind will be difficult to say the least.
“It’s a lovely place to be and the house was big enough for all the family – but now it’s too big,” said Alan, who is in his 80s.
“It was the ideal home because it was in the village but right in the centre of the countryside too.”
The couple have invested a great deal of time and money in the detached 1960s build over the years, including adding a conservatory, updating the dining kitchen and building an en-suite onto one of the upstairs bedrooms.
At the heart of the home, which is on the market at offers over £380,000, lies the fabulous dining kitchen with its soft Maple flooring and dark wood effect work surfaces, which contrast with the high gloss white cupboards.
A breakfast bar separates the two spaces, and a large window sitting above the sink provides ample light for both rooms.
The south-facing, bright conservatory offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, making it the perfect space to enjoy your morning coffee.
A spacious lounge is filled with natural light from a large west-facing window, which draws attention to the stunning feature fireplace – a focal point in the room.
The ground floor is rounded out by an office space, utility room, shower room and fourth bedroom.
Upstairs, the master bedroom comes with Beech-effect storage and an abundance of wardrobe space. There’s plenty of room for large furniture and the giant window allows you to soak up the glorious summer sunshine.
The remaining two bedrooms comfortably accommodate a double bed and provide double built-in wardrobes.
One of the bedrooms leads onto a stylish en-suite, recently updated. Heated towel rails and a double-sized fully tiled shower are just two of the bathroom’s ultra-modern features.
Mature colourful gardens wrap around the property, and a south-facing patio to the rear makes for the perfect spot to entertain guests.
There’s outside storage, a greenhouse and a detached double length garage – all equipped with power.
Prior to setting up home in Kintore, Alan and Elizabeth ran a hotel and pub in Fraserburgh for three years.
When the time came for them to move on, Alan said they found Damansara very quickly “and it was just perfect”.
The years they have spent in the property is a testament of their love for it.
The house will be sorely missed by the couple, but they’re excited to let a new family make their mark – and call Damansara their own.
