Eden Manor, care home renovation
Eden Manor, care home renovation

The renovation of Eden Manor, a former north-east care home, is now complete and new residents have already moved in.

The once-derelict property in Stonehaven has been transformed into five flats and 10 single-storey terraced homes aimed at the over-50s.

Fotheringham Homes worked with John D Crawford Architects on the project.

The abandoned C-listed building has now been turned into modern homes.

The main building itself has retained many of the original features such as the staircase, bay windows and masonry.

Stylish bathrooms and kitchens from Laings of Inverurie feature throughout the properties, and heated flooring adds an extra luxurious finish.

The dilapidated extension to the rear was removed to create space for 10 modern homes built around a courtyard area.

Resident Margaret Paley is more than with happy with her new pad.

“I was instantly attracted to its beautiful setting, easy maintenance and modern appearance,” she said.

“Having lived locally since I was married, Eden Manor has allowed me to downsize easily without having to go any further into town.

“I was nervous about moving, however I have been really surprised at how quickly I have settled in.

“The team at Fotheringham Homes have been fantastic throughout the process, accommodating any of my requests, even changing a door position.

Michael Fotheringham, director of Fotheringham Homes, said: “When we took on the development we had a sense of excitement around the project due to the level of interest on social media.

“Throughout the renovation, we have shared updates and ‘sneak peeks’ and have enjoyed seeing people respond, sharing their own stories and history of the building.

“We are extremely proud to see the impact we have made by restoring Eden Manor, not only for the residents moving in but also their families and the local community surrounding it.”

There are two units left at Eden Manor, available at a fixed price.
