You’d be forgiven for thinking Joy Eyre is an interior designer, with her three-bedroom home in Bridge of Don offering the perfect example of her work.
Luxurious furnishings and careful attention to detail mean 29 Shielhill Avenue is the ultimate showhome. The colour scheme of soft grey and blood red orange contrasts beautifully, while the gleaming white kitchen has played host to many a dinner party.
But although Joy has loved putting together this stunning look, she actually runs her own balloon business. She moved to the modern home four years ago with her husband Alexander, and the couple were the very first owners of the Scotia new build.
They had previously renovated a property in Aberdeen, and decided to move to a new build quite by chance after visiting their daughter.
“She lives just round the corner from us now; we came to the Dubford development when we were visiting her,” said Joy.
“I loved the idea of a new build, so we ended up buying. We have 10 grandchildren and family are always visiting us.
“I think we had 17 people round for Christmas four years in a row, we had plenty of space for everyone.”
It’s hard to fathom how Joy keeps the house so pristine with younger members of the family popping in and out, as number 29 is in immaculate condition.
“Everyone just pleases themselves when they come round, we really enjoy entertaining,” she said.
There is ample space available, with an elegant lounge to the front of the property.
It has plush grey carpet and neutral walls, and Joy has chosen eye-catching accessories.
From soft lighting to the stylish drinks trolly, the set up is certainly on-trend.
“I love interiors and I tend to be attracted to sparkle,” said Joy.
“Visitors always compliment me, but I’ve never actually worked in interior design.”
The open-plan dining kitchen tends to be a gathering place, and has trendy white units with integrated appliances.
A drop-down light made from wine glasses adds a lovely touch, while a large dining table has helped Joy cater for her many guests.
There is a further informal seating area, which offers great flexibility. Whether you want to keep an eye on the kids while you cook or create a sumptuous dinner-party vibe, the choice is yours. There is also access to the garden.
Completing the accommodation on this level is a handy utility room and downstairs toilet.
All three bedrooms can be found upstairs, where the lovely decoration continues.
You’ll find feminine floral and a vintage look in the master bedroom, which also has fitted mirrored wardrobes and an en suite shower room.
The remaining bedrooms are both of good size, while the family bathroom has been fitted with a white three-piece suite.
Joy has worked her magic in the rear garden, which is fully enclosed with several alfresco dining areas. Seating has been thoughtfully placed in different corners, and the grandchildren have spent most of their summer holidays in the garden.
Family pooch Angel also loves relaxing on the patio.
A double garage provides further storage and there is a lock-block driveway.
“We’ve been so happy here and the community is fantastic,” said Joy.
“The younger generation tends to live here and there is a Facebook page where people swap tips on everything, from the best plumber to local walks.
“There’s also a hair salon and I’ve even started my own business while living here. We are downsizing as our daughter will be leaving home soon, having just landed her first job.
“We’d like to stay in the area though, and think this house lends itself to a wide variety of new owners.”
Offers should be made of around £325,000.
