If you want a house that gives you everything you could hope for and more, then look no further than this family home near Banchory, writes Cheryl Livingstone
I have to admit that when I went to write this feature, I had writer’s block. Not because I couldn’t find anything to say about this property but quite the opposite.
There are just so many highlights of this home, Whitehill, Finzean, that it’s hard to know where to begin.
The four-bedroom home was designed and built for the present owners some 20 years ago and it is clear that every little detail has been thought about.
It spans three floors and you will find a score of delightful features in each room, as well as glorious gardens outside.
Set in 1.68 acres and offering stunning views over the countryside and beyond, Whitehill is the perfect country retreat for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
There are many lovely rooms in this house, all no doubt filled with equally lovely memories for the current owners, but I have managed to pick some favourites from the schedule.
The lounge is a fantastically spacious room where you can sit and enjoy views of the front, side and rear gardens. The number of windows also means that the room is flooded with natural light. The formal dining room features an oriel window, allowing you to enjoy the south-facing view, and a glass wall leading to the entrance hallway.
The kitchen is another highlight, fitted with a good range of country-style base and wall units and an Aga range. A spacious, informal dining area is on open plan with the kitchen and leads you to the family room.
Sure to impress is the master bedroom, which has an en suite bathroom, and there are also two further double bedrooms and a single bedroom, which is flexible and could be used for other purposes, including an office or study.
It’s difficult to believe that all this could be yours for offers over £530,000. It’s definitely hard to believe when you hear what else is included in the price.
At the rear of the house is a cast-iron staircase that takes you to a self-contained annex, which would be ideal as a grannie flat, teenager’s den or even an office. It is fitted with a kitchen and separate shower room.
Outside, a block paving driveway provides ample parking and leads to the double garage. The garden grounds are an attractive feature of the house, especially the archways that lead to the rear patio, which takes advantage of the sunny aspect.
Whitehill is located in Finzean, a village not far from Banchory, where you will find ample amenities including shops, supermarkets, schools and health centre.
