Learn a thing or two by visiting this lovely home in Aberdeenshire, writes Cheryl Livingstone
It’s fitting that this home is called The Old School House as just looking at the schedule, I have already learned a few lessons about how to make your property look its best.
Take the lounge and dining area for example. It is clearly a large room, one that many would find difficult to fill. It could be left looking empty and cold.
But the owners of this four bedroom detached house have managed to transform this large space into a cosy welcoming area that I’m sure anyone would find hard not to relax in.
Traditional features such as an open coal fireplace and chandelier are given their own space to shine while plenty of big furniture fills the space making it cosy.
Two feature walls separate the room into lounge and dining area but through their stylish use of colour also draw the two rooms together.
Another delightful area is the conservatory. It is a great room for enjoying the views whatever the weather and also gives you more space to spend time with your family. Other highlights include the modern kitchen and breakfast area, four double bedrooms – the largest has its own dressing area – and a good sized family bathroom with three piece suite and separate shower cubicle.
The house is on the market for offers over £310,000 – a bit of a bargain given the amount of space on offer. Space is a theme that also continues outside. As well as a large driveway providing ample off-street parking and a one-and-a-half garage, it also has lovely large gardens and a courtyard ideal for outdoor dining.
The Old School House is located in St Katherines, a small hamlet around four miles north of Oldmeldrum. Oldmeldrum is a popular country town and is within easy commuting distance to the industrial estates and offices at Bridge of Don and Dyce. There are excellent recreational facilities as well as other amenities including local shops, a post office and primary and secondary school provision.
