It’s not often that neighbours become such good friends that they up sticks and move to the same new address together.

But that is exactly what happened with Heather Mulhern and Elena Balestri who became friends for life after living next to each other at Charleston, the Stewart Milne Homes’ development in Cove.

In fact, their friendship is so strong that the best friends have both sold their homes and moved to the Stewart Milne Homes’ Leathan Green development in Portlethen.

“The sense of community here is really what makes the development so special,” says Elena.

“It’s brilliant to live beside Heather again, as well as make new friends and memories.”

On the move

Alongside her husband, John, and West Highland Terrier, Angus, Heather says that the Leathan Green development instantly appealed as she was looking for a detached home with a larger garden space.

“We absolutely loved our home, so it was a difficult decision to sell up as we were close to everything that we needed; our friends, family and workplaces,” says Heather.

“We started looking at what the market had to offer when we came across Stewart Milne Homes’ new Leathan Green development, just a stone’s throw away.”

Using Stewart Milne Homes’ Part Exchange initiative, Heather took the plunge and purchased the contemporary Jedburgh home which boasts three spacious bedrooms with high-end finishes throughout.

“After enjoying almost four years at the Charleston development, the pandemic had highlighted our need for a larger home that offered dedicated office space as I worked from home more regularly,” says Heather.

“We also welcomed Angus into the family, so we wanted a spacious garden for us all to enjoy as well as easy access to countryside dog walking routes.”

Not a traditional new build

Visiting Heather in her new home inspired Elena to follow suit.

“My husband and I made many friends at the Charleston development, however after living there for almost five years we were on the hunt for a new home that better suited our lifestyle needs with two large dogs in tow,” says Elena.

“After visiting Heather, we were blown away by how unique Leathan Green felt.

“It didn’t feel like a traditional new build development, every home had its own character and there were large spaces between the homes which were filled with greenery – perfect for pet owners like us.”

After considering other new build developments in the region, Elena and her husband, Gentian, settled on The Balfron house type which boasts four bedrooms with a large private driveway and large garden.

“We were so excited to get the keys to our new home in June 2022 with the confidence that we were walking into a quality home that matched our lifestyle,” says Elena.

“We were impressed at the level of communication from the whole team throughout the build and the welcome we received on our move in day, we instantly felt at home.”
