I love property programmes. Everything from Location, Location, Location to Grand Designs but one of my favourites of late has been George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
He visits people who have taken the most unusual of “spaces” and transformed them into a home. There’s been planes, old railway carriages, a fire engine and even treehouses. It is beyond me how these people look at certain items – like a private jet that has been split in half – and can envision how spectacular a home it could be.
However looking at this home – Burnroot Cottage in Dinnet – I can definitely see the potential with this one. This non traditional timber constructed two bedroom bungalow was built in 1941 for the 4th Company of the Canadian Forestry Corp. It is certainly unique looking and those who dream in living in a one of a kind home definitely shouldn’t look past this one.
With so much history and character it deserves to be given a new lease of life and transformed into an amazing space.

This quaint home is in need of refurbishment throughout but how you do that is completely up to you. You could adapt the current structure, allowing you to blend the old with the new and retain the amazing history that belongs to the property. Or, with the necessary planning permissions in place, you could completely rebuild a new home on the site.
At the moment the bungalow has a living room with multi fuel stove, dining kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom and front and rear porch. It is served by solid fuel and the windows are partially double and single glazed. Outside the ground extends to 0.44 of an acre, has partial fencing to the front, a large workshop and a separate shed
at the back.
Another benefit sure to appeal to people is the price – for offers over £79,000, this amazing opportunity could be yours. It’s a
fantastic price that could leave you with money to refurbish or start from scratch.
It is an absolutely fantastic property and I wouldn’t be surprised if the new owners end up on a programme like Amazing Spaces. And that is a story I would definitely want to hear about.
The bungalow is situated in Royal Deeside on the outskirts of Dinnet and would be ideal for those who are after a country lifestyle.
